A bit of a change from my usual Sunday routine (I’ll try to catch up tomorrow), but I was pleased this morning to see the results posted of a little art challenge some of us did, with materials sent to us by Bonnie at the Flights of Stamping Fancy blog. The idea was to see just how creative we could be with a pre-set collection of materials and a deadline.
I did mine while watching Roger Federer (eventually) win the Wimbledon’s Men’s Final last Sunday. I was interested in trying this because my own creativity tends to be almost all verbal — I can’t paint and I’m not that great at visual stuff in general. I’m great at things that follow pre-set patterns, like needlepoint or crocheting, but ask me to come up with something visual on my own, and I usually draw a blank.
Even in the stories I write, I have a hard time actually visualizing. I have to work very hard to get descriptive passages written, and it’s only after I’ve done those that I can see the scenery in my own stories.
So I was really interested to see how well I could do with this. I’m fairly pleased, and I love everyone else’s tags! I really enjoyed trying this. It might be that while some forms of artistic expression come more naturally (my verbal kind, for example), others can be exercised and augmented.

Oh, those are very cute, Phyl. There really is something therapeutic about messing with paper and glue and fiddly bits, isn’t there? I like how your twine loops through the “P” instead of the usual punched hole– a bit of the unexpected!
Yes, that was one of the “glee” moments when I had that old “Hey, I thought of that!” feeling. Kind of silly, but kind of fun.
Thanks!
Very pretty!
