I saw this first at The Indextrious Reader, where Melanie is doing the Weekly Geeks meme about the “World Tour,” and how many countries you’ve “visited” in your reading. I decided to check out which parts of the world my own reading has taken me to (as far as I could remember), and this is what came of it:
create your own visited country map
I appear to be a pretty Northern Hemisphere reader, don’t I? But you can certainly see the effect of those Russian novels I studied in university, huh?

My own map would be pretty sad, I think.
This is a pretty cool idea. You’ve covered a lot of the globe!
Um, I’ve also tagged you for an award, if you want to drop by the blog sometime.
There’s a lot of “read” on that map
I’ve noticed that the least filled in area on most of the maps I’ve seen this week is South America. It certainly is my weakest area.
Yes, I wonder why that is. I was kind of amused that the only reason I got Greenland in there at all was that I had read an account of Eric the Red’s settlement there. Funny how just one thing like that gets to fill in a great big space. But South America and Africa are definitely weak spots.
