Another fun summarizing meme, that I first saw last year from Melanie at Indextrious Reader and now have seen there and with Kiirstin at A Book a Week as well. Post the first line from each month of the past year. I really like that idea, so I’m doing one of my own. Alas, I’ve managed to finish about a third of the number of books Melanie has (I used to be a [...] From the A Journey Round My Skull blog, a wonderful collection of illustrations from Soviet children’s books: Mummy Was A Robot, Daddy Was A Small Non-Stick Kitchen Utensil. Check them out! These particular ones are very robotic and mechanical, but so colourful and intriguing. I’m especially delighted with these because I have a few of my own [...] I don’t read very quickly any more, for some reason, so I didn’t get to read 100 books in 2009, as some people have done. Still, I really enjoyed what I did get read, and in looking over my list (yes, I write them all down), I see a very definite trend. I discovered mysteries and suspense [...] If you have even a moderate interest in the history of the space program, suit up, belt yourself in securely, and prepare for a fantastic ride. [...] What is the difference between a YA novel and an adult novel? That was the question posed at A Book a Week a couple of days ago, and now I’m really intrigued. Kiirstin at A Book a Week and Mandy at Edge of Seventeen just did a “buddy review” of Ice, the latest YA book by Sarah Beth Durst. Each one first did their own review of the book itself, and then they interviewed each other about their opinions. I don’t know if [...] Lisa does a lot of reading, since she travels so much, and writes really insightful and interesting book reviews, as well as participating in other book events. I get a lot of great ideas for what I want to read, by keeping up with her. [...] |
