Hi, my name is Phyl, and I’m the proprietor of this establishment. My standard bio is that I live in Toronto with two cats and 2000 books. Of course, there’s a bit more than that, though.
I’m an editor and writer, and did records management projects in my (recent) past life. My business website, to which this blog is attached, is ShinyIdeas.ca.
I’m an ex-fundamentalist (stress the EX), with two degrees in Religious Studies, specializing in the philosophy of world religions.
I went to university originally planning to become an astrophysicist, then switched to a double major in Philosophy and the Russian language, then finally landed in the philosophy of religion instead, in which I got my BA and MA.
Along the way, as far back as I can remember, my greatest love has been books. Partly for the beauty of the books themselves, but also for the wonderful information and stories they contain. So I hope I can convey some of that love here.
