I’m not really slagging the Kindle today (I’m being passive), but the people at Green Apple Books have put up some amusing videos both at their blog, The Green Apple Core, and on their YouTube channel. They’re setting the Kindle battling with books, and so far they’re on round 6. You’ll have to watch the videos to [...] AmazonFail Yegods. Every day now, Amazon is up to something nasty again. It’s hard to keep up. And I’d really rather write about good stuff. From Pogue’s Posts in the New York Times, “Some E-Books Are More Equal Than Others:” This morning, hundreds of Amazon Kindle owners awoke to discover that books by a certain famous author had [...] You know, I don’t even go looking for this stuff about Amazon, but it just seems to be busting out all over, lately. I keep thinking, as I watch this sort of thing happening more and more, “Who do they think they are — General Motors??” (Meaning, of course, the old General Motors before the supposedly [...] To say this is an abomination of abominations is making it sound like a church picnic. This marketing-targetting-attacking-people-with-advertising is getting so out of hand, I doubt it will be long before they’re demanding the right to put advertisements on the insides of our eyelids so we can’t even escape their money-grubbing pocket-robbing shouting that way. … [...] I suddenly realize why, even though I enjoyed the various incarnations of Star Trek, I never really wanted to live in their world even though I would definitely love space travel and exploring new worlds and so on. But those people had no things. … [...] Such a to-do about ebooks lately! First, the less controversial stuff. As Publisher’s Weekly reports, the RAND Corporation has lowered the price of its ebooks to $9.95 (I presume US dollars) across the board.
